“Helping vulnerable children without parental support is my passion..”
Kisembo Idd
Kisembo Children’s Community Based Organization (KCCBO) is a registered non-profit CBO dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children in Mityana, Uganda.
KCCBO was founded in 2018 by a group of local volunteers who shared a deep concern for children living in poverty, without access to education, healthcare, or basic needs. Recognizing the profound challenges these vulnerable children face, KCCBO made it their mission to provide essential support where it's needed most, empowering these children to build brighter futures.
About me and my story, the Founder
My name is Kisembo Idd, and my life’s journey has been marked by hardship, resilience, and a deep commitment to humanitarianism.
I was born in Uganda, and at a young age, I lost both of my parents in a tragic accident. This left my sister and me to navigate a world without the safety net of family support. We faced immense uncertainty, with even our parents' assets claimed by those who showed little compassion for our plight.
After my father's passing, we were placed in the care of a stepmother who offered minimal support. Life became a daily struggle for survival, and eventually, I found myself alone, searching for food and shelter. Forced to abandon my education, I resorted to begging on the streets, losing contact with my sister along the way.
But my story took a turn when a kind stranger, Muhimbise Innocent, found me on the streets and offered me shelter. He became the father figure I desperately needed, enrolling me in school and treating me as one of his own. With his support, I excelled in my studies, realizing that education was my path to a better future. Through his kindness, I learned that there is no greater joy than bringing a smile to someone’s face.
Today, as a professional teacher, I am driven by a vow I made to God/Allah to help others facing challenges like mine. This is the foundation upon which KCCOB was built. Our organization has grown into a beacon of hope for the community, offering not just immediate relief, but also long-term solutions aimed at breaking the cycle of deprivation. Through education, healthcare initiatives, and the provision of basic necessities, we strive to give these children the hope and opportunities that were once given to me.
At KCCOB, we work hand-in-hand with local communities, ensuring that the support we provide is sustainable, culturally sensitive, and truly impactful. Together, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of these incredible children, one step at a time.
